چکیده

W consider an extension of the 0–1 multidimensional knapsack problem in which there are greater-thanor-equal-to inequalities, called demand constraints, in addition to the standard less-than-or-equal-to constraints. Moreover, the objective function coefficients are not constrained in sign. This problem is worth considering because it is embedded in models of practical application, it has an intriguing combinatorial structure, and it appears to be a challenging problem for commercial ILP solvers. Our approach is based on a nested tabusearch algorithm in which neighborhoods with different structures are exploited. First, a tabu-search procedure is carried out in which mainly the infeasible region is explored. Once feasibility has been established, a second tabu-search procedure, which analyzes only feasible solutions, is applied. The algorithm has been tested on a wide set of instances. Computational results are discussed.

A hybrid quantum particle swarm optimization for the Multidimensional Knapsack Problem

In this paper we propose a new hybrid heuristic approach that combines the Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization technique with a local search method to solve the Multidimensional Knapsack Problem. The approach also incorporates a heuristic repair operator that uses problem-specific knowledge instead of the penalty function technique commonly used for constrained problems. Experimental results ob...

Iterated Local Search Algorithm for the Constrained Two-Dimensional Non-Guillotine Cutting Problem

An Iterated Local Search method for the constrained two-dimensional non-guillotine cutting problem is presented. This problem consists in cutting pieces from a large stock rectangle to maximize the total value of pieces cut. In this problem, we take into account restrictions on the number of pieces of each size required to be cut. It can be classified as 2D-SLOPP (two dimensional single large o...

A Robust Knapsack Based Constrained Portfolio Optimization

Many portfolio optimization problems deal with allocation of assets which carry a relatively high market price. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the integer value of assets when we deal with portfolio optimization. In addition, one of the main concerns with most portfolio optimization is associated with the type of constraints considered in different models. In many cases, the resulted p...

A Fuzzy Genetic Algorithm Based on Binary Encoding for Solving Multidimensional Knapsack Problems

The fundamental problem in genetic algorithms is premature convergence, and it is strongly related to the loss of genetic diversity of the population. This study aims at proposing some techniques to tackle the premature convergence by controlling the population diversity. Firstly, a sexual selection mechanism which utilizes the mate chromosome during selection is used. The second technique focu...

Model and Solution Approach for Multi objective-multi commodity Capacitated Arc Routing Problem with Fuzzy Demand

The capacitated arc routing problem (CARP) is one of the most important routing problems with many applications in real world situations. In some real applications such as urban waste collection and etc., decision makers have to consider more than one objective and investigate the problem under uncertain situations where required edges have demand for more than one type of commodity. So, in thi...
